Listening to the first track off this, I actually like this. Liking the lo-fi element and the tremolo riffs.

Guitar. All of the songs except Ruiner where written by me and we picked up our newer second guitarist after we recorded this.

I'm surprised more people haven't posted something about the second track being weird to them after the first one.

Dude, that opening riff to Battle Cry is so damn catchy. I can't stop playing (an equivalent) on bass by ear.

A guitarist I know, who I got into a whole shitload of bands from Rosetta to Textures to SMV, keeps telling me he wants to form a band with me and his crazy bassist friend (As in crazy talented-I thought I was a good bassist, until he started sight-reading Victor Wooten songs). But whenever we talk about it, keeps telling me he wants to wait till he gets his new axe.

Fuckin' procrastinator.

Patience is a virtue. Took us over a year to find a drummer, bassist, and second guitarist haha.

Really? I've always had it the other way around. I'm primarily a bassist, secondarily a vocalist, and every band I've ever been in, bar one, at least one person has said to me "Dude, if you wanted to shred you should have played guitar. Stop trying to show off and just play root notes." Which I never do, of course.

Man I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to flip out on a bassist for just open chugging while me and other guitarist
are playing a riff. That being said, Parker (our current bassist) is doing a pretty good job, even if he's just mirroring the guitar
for the most part he's able to keep up at least.

Ha, looks like we've had experiences at quite the opposite end of the spectrum. Luckily though, the guys I'm playing with right now actually encourage some creativity in the bass, which is great. Only problem with that act is that it's pretty much a revolving door with only two real members-the guitarist and I-right now. I can't stand open chugging on bass; maybe its my really short attention span, but I constantly find myself rewriting songs or improvising basslines on the spot just to make things more interesting for myself.

But yeah, like you said, patience is a virtue, and if that other dude, his mate and I end up doing something more permanent, it's almost guaranteed that the bass is going to rock.

Just on a side note, how did you get the artwork done for the release? Did anyone in the band do it, or did you get a friend, or did you just contract out? Same for studio/recording; did you actually hire out a studio and get an engineer/producer, or DIY on a laptop?

I made the art myself.

The recording was really DIY. I recorded the guitars on an amp simulator, our singer did the vocals on a podcasting mic, and
the drums on MIDI. We're actually starting a proper recording session this Tuesday.

Also, this isn't really an EP, since we're not selling it and are going to have an "official" EP at our shows once we get
recording done.

Ohh, I love intricate basslines. I hate it when people think bassists should only be playing low and simple.
I think people can be a bit lazy with drums too, often. They're not usually used to their full potential.
