I just heard it this morning and I really dug it on first listen. I have to jam Start a War, but I've heard nothing but terrible things about Cult of Static

All you need is this, re-generation and Cannibal imo but there are a few goodies in the other albums

WDT, Machine, and Regeneration are the elite ones, Shadow Zone is solid fun, everything else ranges from decent to whatever the hell Cult of Static is

fair point Lucca, Machine does have a place in my heart since it is the album that got me not only into these guys but metal as a whole

Start A War is my favorite Static X. 6 out of 5 album. Top 50 album all time.

This is actually a really cool and novel sound and it’s a shame they often get pre-judged because of being lumped in with nu-metal (and their shit albums) (and Wayne’s hair) (and Tripp Eisen’s unfortunate involvement with their music)

their crappy nu-metal album is cannibal, which is fucking garbage, and they will forever be judged because of it

Wtf Pika cannibal rips. So many good riffs. if you only listened to this and Cannibal you’d probably get the 80% of their discog you need, with the remaining 20% coming from Machine/SZ/SAW/PJ

I’m at the gym wearing my Swans shirt but really I’m blasting WDT while I squat. Nobody needs to know.

This album is fun and all but the production is pretty thin compared to my memory of it

Machine is better imo. Not the most consistent band out there but fun like you said
