I only really come over to school people on dubstep and troll half arsedly.

Mainly when I'm bored at the uni library.

Then this review is clearly ridiculously bad.

(It isn't, says Captain Obvious)

Excellent review Dev. I would be forced to go upside this chick's head if I saw her in the street.

You mean slap her? Or was that some sexual metaphor that I didn't pick up on?

Her moniker sounds like a Spice Girl & she looks similar to Ke$ha, but if debut LP 'On A Mission' is anything to go by, then 21 year old singer-songwriter Kathleen Bryan has both covered on raw talent. The control, versatility & subtleties of her sensual vocals display maturity beyond her age, while the production is crisp & ultra contemporary. Attempting to adapt underground dance sub-genres into mainstream accessible pop, it's an ambitious project that is not without a few hiccups. Ultimately however, Katy B is a unique & exciting breath of fresh air for music in general. Recommended Tracks: Lights On, Broken Record, Witches Brew & Katy On A Mission.

Yeah, I still find this to be a good album. I do think that she's latched onto a few things to try and push her "star" a little higher, but for the most part she pulls it off. It's just dumb but fun music

Agree with everything you said Dev, except for the word "dumb". I actually think it's rather smart... In a lot of ways. Sometimes, dumbing things down is a smart move.

I just meant that there's little substance to it. It's dance music, sounds for the club. Nothing intellectually stimulating

I think my favorite moment is when she thanks everybody at the end of the record over that gorgeous house-y instrumental. It's quite endearing..

this is good. i feel like the worst part is her actual singing though. sometimes she sounds
legitimately flat. i guess i don't really have a good ear for that shit though--i think maybe it's
just the melodies are a little weird/unexpected with the musical backdrop (e.g. "why you always
here").
