Yeah, it should be cool. This album will sound the same though, won't it? Also, will they re-record machina 2 or will they just remaster it?

Looking forward to the remastered version of this and Machina II. This is a solid 4 for me, tracks like Stand Inside Your Love, Wound and This Time are among Billy's best work.

I have been giving this album a bunch of spins lately. So good. I always love coming back to Machina. I think this is right behind Siamese Dream and MCIS for me. I don't get why it is so maligned.

Did the reviewer & I listen to the same record? To me this album is a throwback sonically to Mellon Collie. It's not Mellon Collie. It's not as good as Mellon Collie or Adore, but it stands on it's own two feet alone quite well as a record in my opinion. I don't get the reviewer's dislike for the album. This album returns the pumpkin's sound to that pop-guitar fuzz. Maybe the reviewer was one of the listener's alienated by the pumpkins Adore & Machina turn (quite obviously).

Also, screw Virgin. Virgin isn't a legit record company. They are a money making entity. What do they know about great music? What do they care? Obviously they don't give a care. Obviously Virgin barely cared enough about the Pumpkins; they only cared enough when the pumpkins were writing music & releasing records that were big commercial successes. They only cared about having the smashing pumpkins fit that radio friendly, media friendly mold which in turn pads Virgin's bottom line. Virgin doesn't care about artistic freedom, or expression. Certainly the pumpkins deserve some of the blame for signing with Virgin, what other options did they have in the 90's though? The record industry scene, or the supportive structure of today's independent record scene (which is still far from perfect) didn't exist.

Virgin shafted one of the very best bands of the 90's. Screw Virgin.

Damn right man. Why's your rating so low?

I am too particular when it comes to rating albums. I toe the line when it comes to the general
sputnik consensus on album ratings. While my personal rating for an album may be a lot higher, I rate
albums within .2 +/- of the overall sputnik rating. If it's lower than a 3.0 I won't even
rate the album. If there are less than 100 ratings for an album I won't even rate it. Crazy I know.
