In my book his worst album... it is only somewhere between mind-bending and mind-blowing. He never fails to amaze me but in this one, although it has also some amazing songs like the first two and the last two it doesn't feel as intense and also not as "a whole package" as the other albums released 2004.

There are just too many differences in this album. Some of the synth-nervewrecking #-Titles that dont follow along at all with the more typical pop-structured rest of the album. Some songs lack the usual special John Frusciante-ness like for example "Second Walk". He rocked out way better and rawer on IOE or TWTD. This is too poppy to really get you deep in your guts.

Whole package: I mean if you would give this album a colour you would have to give it more than just one! There is the absolute amazing pop-acousticness with nice uplifting vocal harmonies with also some electrics like Omission, Carvel, Wednesday's Song, then there is electronic Freakouts as in 33FailureObject. Then there is a new genre-defining Sigur Ros meets Acid-Tangerine Dream-Krautrock Sound of the 2nd to last song. This is just to much. You dont get a kind of a building-up-like-a-drama not just inside the songs but throughout the songs in the album. Whereas i love to listen other 2004er all the wa through this one doesnt do that for me.

To this date i hope he someday makes a whole album out of these "lost-deep-in-ocean" sounds that were in the 2nd to last song.
