don't know how you can assume they were "upbeat". the fact that he wrote two albums about suicide kinda squashes that. i'm pretty sure he always had depression issues. that said, this album was just as good, and poignant, before his suicide. granted, i don't know what was going through his mind at the time. i know he was supposedly told he could never play his instruments again, but he could've still made music. just look at Jason Becker. the man can't fucking move and he still makes music. there's no romanticizing his suicide at all. he just wasn't strong willed enough to cope with his problem. he took the easy way out. not trying to bash the guy, as i love this album and everything else they did. i just get annoyed when people use suicide as a selling point.

was basing that mainly on past fan interaction with the two of them. reportedly they were both very enthusiastic with their fans and appeared to be very happy.

not everyone with depression issues make it apparent, and they're not always sad.

Kris Angylus and Monica Dragynfly were a pleasant and upbeat couple who decided to collaborate on an project together in 1999. Angylus came up with the idea to write a long series of concept albums about a man and his wife suffering immense amounts of pain and torment at the hands of a God before both committing suicide.
Yeah they sound like really happy people.

this album is so overrated

it's good, but it's pretty much pseudo-whatever

or in other words, an experimental album that will wow people who don't listen to experimental music

probably a solid 3.3/5 or something like that though

haha oh kane, how i love you

don't get me wrong, i really like the album. when i first heard it i liked it a lot more, but it never really 'stuck' with me. perhaps i should give it another chance, but i doubt i'll ever heap praise onto it in a similar way this review does

haha, my sarcasm was actually aimed at Xeno. my rating for this is old. It's actually lost some appeal, but i'd probably still put it somewhere between 3.5 and 4, but gonna leave it a 4.5 since it's not a 4.5. i still feel this is a fairly unique album, which i give it a lot of credit for.

like I said, it's not a perfect album and it's definitely not a 5 for everyone.

no worries man. to me, no album is a 5 'cause no album is perfect and the glass is half empty.

Yeah, this album is really good but I don't think I would like it as much hearing it now in context to all of the music it opened me up to.
