Tapestry's intro riff swings so hard

Album Rating: 3.5 | Sound Off
Rody on his podcast this week said that this album remains the only one without an instrumental release because they don't know where the stems are. So that's a bummer.
I should revisit this album. Feel like my rating would almost definitely move up a bit. At the time I was definitely whining too much about the contrast between Fortress and this.

This album is a weird one. The first few and the last few are among the best they've put out but the album's middle is maybe the roughest stretch they've ever done

Everyone should revisit this. There's a hook like every 30 seconds

in that 30 seconds is the avg time it takes for these songs to completely lose sight of their own structure yes
"the album's middle is maybe the roughest stretch they've ever done"
fr. the whole Tandem thru Reign stretch is some ugly shit, Dunsel the only thing holding it together

Tandem is in my top PTH songs

I don't get it either but I listened to every PTH album today. I save this one for last and I have enjoyed it the most

Dunsel's probably the closest thing to what you describe in the whole stretch of songs. Like it still owns but still.

fr dunsel ain't it

Dunsel flounders as much as the rest of em but it's the only one with a sufficiently coherent narrative to stand as more than a sum-of-its-parts jankheap. Its extra pinch of grit tides things over
Bookends are the best on this by a farcically wide margin

I think I have this conversation once a year once per year and it always ends in me defending scurrilous

Dunsel is probably the only song. I couldn't provide the narrative too

I don't know how hard you have to get filtered in order to argue that a track like Moonlight isn't coherent. Same with Reign too.

If I'm going to rank this band based on how much I want to sing along a scurless is number one fortress is number two and kezia is number three
Personally, I like take two tracks each from volition and palimpsest

Album Rating: 2.8
Dunsel is a music industry seethe and wears its piss p well as such
Moonlight has more cheeseball riffs than I can count on all hands and toes combined + stringing the world's hokiest coda onto the end is not enough to make out that that any of them sound good next to each other. Proper bunk song

Johnny, do you even try to make sense or you just sit back and see how the world responds to what you throw out there?
