A lot of awesome releases this week and Davey picked two of the best.

Pshhh Rise Against is even worse than this : )

Yes Baph, a 4.
Look, even Trey says so. And when Trey & I agree, you know it's FACT!

Ugh. Can't argue with that logic. I guess I'll check this out.

But when I rate something a 3, that usually means there were perhaps a few songs I kept, while I discarded the majority of the album. I though we talked about this.
I don't generally pay attention to what you say, I thought we talked about that ;)
Idk though, wouldn't that constitute an album being average then?

Glad you came to your senses Baph.

It's solidly good, but their singer is still meh for me

2.5 is when there is absolutely nothing I can take from the album, but it's not entirely un-listenable. Either that, or I COULD take one or two songs, but the rest are literally un-listenable.

this is the best since CDADIC

Yeah, not a fan of their vocalist.

Listening to this, I was thinking this would be so good if it was still 2005... it just sounds incredibly dated.

I'd have to agree with that Strizz & solidness. If anything, the more mainstream rock sound on 'Tales...' suited Matt more than this heavier style.
I wouldn't say it sounds too dated though. I can see what you mean Strizz & agree partially, but good music is good music. Plus, look at how so many old trends are coming back anyway.
Apollo with the big 4.5.

I've heard a couple of tracks out of this disc. They sounded generic as hell.

So pleasantly suprised when I heard this. wasnt expecting much after the last two..Right up there with casually dressed imo.

Solid review, Davey, yet again. This album is great, a pleasant surprise, combining the best elements of Hours and CDADIC.
And bloc and Deviant, I think a 3 means it is good, you enjoy it while you're listening, but the lasting value is not there. Personally, what you're describing bloc sounds more like a 2.5. I feel like a lot ofpost-hardcore scene albums are often average b/c they have a couple solid songs, but then are forgettable after that.

I found this to be a bit lackluster on a first listen.

I think the ratings are a personal thing, and everyone has their idea of what a 2.5, 3, or whatever rating means.

Ahh, my favorite word "generic" (insert sarcasm here). Understand where you're coming from greg, but I guess it comes down to how original you want your music to sound. I wouldn't say this album is anything innovative, it's just very well done.
Good to hear you liked it Baseline
Thanks Mr. Senior. I think that album combo comment of yours is around the mark.
Give it a few more chances Jim. Even I found a few songs bleeding together originally. This is actually one of the most difficult reviews I have had to write, purely because I had to delve into each song individually.
As for ratings, they are to an extent personal. I try not to have pre-determined comments as such for each rating, but after a while I think we all understand what is what for yourself. But that's why I like to rate discogs for comparison sake.

I promise it was the 5th best for me. Just missed out.
