Agreed.
That Time of the Night is also brilliant. One of my favourite Fish performances.

absolutely, vocally he's rarely been better than on this IMO. White Russian and Sugar Mice are the other standouts for me

I close my mind, I shout it out but you know it's getting harder
Where do we go from here?

i always thought he deserved more acclaim for his lyrics. Way i see it they tread the line between erudite and pretentious admirably

Indeed.
Fish is one of my favourite lyricists.
If you don't know yet, don't miss their first 3 albums, specially Misplaced Childhood.
Their mark II era also have interesting moments like Seasons End, Holidays in Eden, Brave or Afraid of Sunlight. You will find good songs on each album.

i've been meaning to re-listen to the first three for a while actually. I heard misplaced childhood and wasn't a huge fan, but i should probably give it another chance given its status. As for the MKII era, i've never really made an effort to listen to it properly, but i'm in a prog phase at the moment so i'll probably fit them into my listening schedule somehwere....

You guys also need some The Watch in your life.

I still need to give this album a proper listen.

Incommunicado is fun Jethro.
@JT
Don't waste any more time, excellent album.

I've always hated Incommunicado with a passion, from my very first listen till today. I can see why
people can enjoy it though. As for The Watch, it's a modern band that is taking the Genesis torch
where they left it. It's actually kind of a 'continuity' of the early Genesis. Frontman has a Gabe's
identical voice. If interested, start with album Vacuum.

Now I leave you this gem Jethro:

So good...

Very good song indeed, Jethro. Incredibly similar to early Genesis. They might just as well have called themselves The Watch-er of the Skies haha.
|

@Notrap: I'll make sure I give this a full listen soon as you speak so highly of it.

Yes Notrap, this is my fave song from Clutching at Straws. I own that show on DVD, one of the very
latest (if not the last) performance of Fish with the band.
@Jamie hahaha hell, I never thought about that before. Band first name was 'The Night Watch', the name
of a King Crimson song found on Starless and Bible Black. Though we can detect some KC references here
or there, it definitely sounds more like Genesis with bits and pieces of early Marillion.
So Notrap, I invite you to try The Watch as well =]

"...with bits and pieces of early Marillion"
Will check it for sure ;-)
@JT
Indeed, I really love this gem.
I speak highly of all Fish era albums.
Out of ten Marillion fans, let's say 5 choose Misplaced as their best album, 2 Script, 2 Clutching and 1 Fugazi.
But they're all great albums.

Misplaced > Script > Fugazi > Clutching
Fugazi is damn close to Script for me.
