Tuna, I think there are many Lancaster fanboys around, hence why I played up on the "Patience" theme. Most would have just spewed out releases immediately with the way he left Mayday.

I told you Adam. I will also tell you not to be too disappointed on 1st listen to this.

And I've just decided that 'Any Other Heart' really really rules.

I think I realised on hearing their 2nd EP that it wasn't dual vocals missing from Mayday Parade's second LP, it was Lancaster.

i'm liking this so far. i mean, this is pretty much what mayday parade's second album could have been if lancaster stayed, seeing as he wrote like everything for them. this actually sounds more like the first mayday parade record than mayday parade's follow-up album did. coincidence? nope

I really liked Lesson In Romantics. I'll definitely check this out. Good review, Davey.

I really don't want to go with the crowd here (because I don't mind 'Anywhere But Here' for what it is), but I agree with your comments Knott & snerefedsav.

I was actually really surprised when seeing them (MP) live yesterday that they still play mainly earlier songs. From memory, there was only 2 off their newie (WTF no "Get Up?)

Thanks Phideaux. You'll like it, just don't disregard after the 1st listen.

I opted to get killed in Protest the Hero's circle pits instead. It was such a brilliant day.

(One of my mates got a MP drumstick and she was going crazy about it, haha.)

i mean, anywhere but here had some pretty quality songs, but as a whole, it was extremely lacking, especially compared to a lesson in romantics. this album is more up my alley because the songwriting hearkens back to the initial excitement i got when i first heard a lesson in romantics. and in my opinion, it's also a lot better than the stuff go radio was releasing earlier, which left me pretty underwhelmed.

This was a big surprise. Never listened to Mayday Parade and I downloaded this on a whim. Is it worth going back and checking out MP's stuff?

It's incredibly worth checking them out. If this is a 3.5 for you I would expect A Lesson In Romantics to be a 4/4.5.

"Would you say this is better than the EP?"

If I had to pick one, I'd pick the EP... But one of this album's problems is overlength, so if you treat the 2-3 filler cuts as bonus tracks, then it could be even'ish.

"I opted to get killed in Protest the Hero's circle pits instead."

I was super surprised how popular Mayday was. They were pretty good although I wish the guitarists would stop spinning them all over the place like tools. The Blackout making fun of their fans before MP came on was hilarious too.

What Adam meant to say was "F*CK YES"
