Very accurate description of the album, and a pretty cool sound.

Nice review. I'm digging this album.

album isn't half bad.

The Arcade-Firey direction they've gone in on this album leaves a bit to be desired (Devotchka are good but cannot handle that austere grandiosity)

but when they don't try to hard to expand their palette (vicariously limiting their sound ironically enough) the songs sound just right.

Kind of a middling record. the first "safe" album they've made imo.

because ya'll were obviously concerned.

yeah Yetigeddon this reminds me nothing of Bruce Springsteen and therefore Arcade Fire. Safe, a bit, but they've never tried to be anything else really. They know what they do well and do it.

dudes half these songs sound like Fire B-sides.

and it's not so much that they've tried to be anything else. It's that their sound inherently pushed a lot of borders and now they've settled into making a DeVotchKa album.

Which would be ok if everything was awesome (see: A Mad and Faithful Telling) but it's not. As in I don't think many of these songs would be much fun live (which this band is otherwise). more of an introspective listener I feel.

i completely agree with it being safe, just not seeing the arcade fire analogy. it's cool though =]

there were more than a handful of moments where I felt like the strings and backing females gang-vocals and reverby guitars sounded a bit like the Arcade Fire.

Maybe later I'll cite specific examples for you Sowing if you're still curious but not listening to the album right now. Nor do I have it on me : (

tbh this is the first and only time I've ever thought that of this band.

up until the few songs on this album that have me thinking otherwise I was a firm believer in a strict divide between the two bands.

Arcade Fire have really been growing off me lately. Not just The Suburbs, like the entire band is just growing off me.

It's like everyone needs to have super obvious hooks to make a great album with some of you people. Yetigeddon I still have no freakin' clue how you hear Arcade Fire. I mean, if you really force yourself to hear it then I guess.

this album.....uhdflhkdjfl

the music is mostly good, but the vox range from bad to fucking awful. 100 Other Lovers makes me want to punch babies. I think I need to lower my rating...

but then there's The Common Ground which is so awesome (almost no vocals, weird) so I don't know. 3 feels right.
