This is still growing on me. They need to get off their asses and release a full album.

Three years after releasing their debut EP, San Diego's In Every Breath return with a new guitarist & bass player on follow-up 'Awakening'. At just 4 tracks & 20 minutes in length, it's difficult to gauge the progression (or regression) made by the band, however this is yet another solid EP without being anything too memorable. 'Awakening' is probably a step down from 'Distrust', despite 'Temptress' kicking things off strongly. The tinny sounding drums get a little annoying after a while, while some of the screams seem forced. So ultimately, this is another promising EP, but nothing more. Recommended Tracks: Temptress & Back To Symmetry.

I agree. I liked their old guitar player and his songs a little more. As for getting more memorable, I think these guys like to stick to more 'musical' ideas with hooks as an afterthought.

I agree with you on that last point Trey. I guess that's the trait of an exceptional band; combining the 2 as best as possible.

I'm not even sure that "memorable" or "hooks" are the correct words. I guess I just want EPs/LPs that demand you listen to them again weeks & months after you've 1st heard them.

Their new one is supposed to be heavier and more abrasive. I highly recommend checking out the latest one first.

And thus DaveyBoy joins the list of people guilty of not listening to a Willie rec.
