I mean yeah it's well-written to an extent.
That being said though, some of this is garbage.
Just because you take Radiohead so seriously (and many fans do) doesn't mean they take themselves so seriously.
Thom has said time and time again they're nothing more than a pop band, literally-- which goes against what many fans believe... shows you're basing your review around the convictions of Radioheadsheep.
I wouldn't call this heartless at all, either. Kid A was heartless. Amnesiac was heartless. This is pretty damn pleasant (excuse me for stealing rabbit's words) and human, most of the time.... lovable, even. Please don't give me bullshit about this "not innovating" enough either, your analysis are better than that generally.
And this, "each song sounding like a collection of sounds," well... I have no idea where you're getting that from. It's harsh, surely, and I thought this was an utterly complete record. Obviously very subjective though... I'm just surprised you heard it that way, really.
Again though, generally well-written, and definitely the only negative review so far that deserves a response at all, I just wish some of your points would have backed up the writing better.
PS on the other hand, other points here, like the lyrics, are perfectly reasonable and agreeable.. Also, obviously I've only spun this like 8-10 times myself so who am I to criticize, this is just my take.

ok two questions:
1. Is semicolon use different over there than it is here?
2. Same question re: punctuation + quotation marks...
In the U.S., semicolon should divide two related sentences (that could stand alone)
Also, generally in the U.S., punctuation marks like periods and commas go inside of quotations...

Semicolons have a little more scope, yes, though I think the other uses are old-fashioned. My use of 'em is ripped off a guy called M. John Harrison, though, who wields semicolons and colons like flashing knives. I stitch fragments together here and there, and generally chuck 'em in when they feel right.
The other question... I dunno. I've done it both ways at uni and never been corrected.

I don’t really have the heart to deny this, not thinking too clearly today.
Just because you take Radiohead so seriously (and many fans do) doesn't mean they take themselves so seriously.

Amazed to hear this. I’ve heard all their records and seen a few interviews, but never got the impression they thought of themselves that way. I mean, they are popular, obviously, but they’ve always been a little too difficult to be pop, surely? I’d like to hear them have some fun, and write something poppy – not every song, just the odd flash of wit or playfulness.
literally-- which goes against what many fans believe... shows you're basing your review around the convictions of Radioheadsheep.
My opinions are based on their music and the impression it gives me. This sounds hollow to me.
I wouldn't call this heartless at all, either. Kid A was heartless. Amnesiac was heartless. This is pretty damn pleasant (excuse me for stealing rabbit's words) and human, most of the time.... lovable, even.
I can see ‘pleasant’, I can’t see ‘lovable’. Pleasant isn’t enough to give it heart.
Please don't give me bullshit about this "not innovating" enough either, your analysis are better than that generally
I’m the last guy to give a shit about innovation, but when the emotional aspect is so reduced, it would be nice to see some sparkle of intellect and originality. And I agree I’m better than this usually, I’m just very ill and fuzzyheaded. Did this to take my mind of it.
And this, "each song sounding like a collection of sounds," well... I have no idea where you're getting that from. It's harsh, surely, and I thought this was an utterly complete record. Obviously very subjective though... I'm just surprised you heard it that way, really.
Ok, I have this weird thing, where I think great songs don’t sound written. You can see the threads if you pay close attention, but otherwise they seem whole. This seems like a calculated mish-mash of noise, barely songs at all.
PS on the other hand, other points here, like the lyrics, are perfectly reasonable and agreeable.. Also, obviously I've only spun this like 8-10 times myself so who am I to criticize, this is just my take
Fuck you!
