I was obsessed with this band when I saw them support Funeral For A Friend and they had that five track EP and had just released 4 Words as a single.
Sadly they never really became what I thought they would but the Poison was decent.

they're just frustratingly inconsistent.

they'll hit a home run with the poison, then read the forums too much and cater to those who thought it wasnt metal enough with this. then they'll go back to doing their own thing with fever, but take a nosedive with temper temper, then pivot back to "the fans hated our experiments so lets make the safest album ever" with venom. Matt will go through a divorce and come up with some of the strongest hooks in his career with gravity but get shat on bc it isn't heavy enough, THEN they'll pull it all together for the arguable best album of their career that has a little bit of everything, and most importantly, feels natural.

Album definitely has its moments, but is ultimately an inconsistent mess. It's mainly the vocals which are my biggest peeve with this one, they're so incredibly cheesy with some laughably bad lyrics. Instrumentally this album is pretty solid for the most part. Like, Eye of The Storm rules but that hook is just ugh, so dead. Waking The Demon suffers in a similar vein, crappy hook but with redeemable moments (love the bridge)
