The album is so dreamy. Just reminds me of clouds upon clouds.

I absolutely hated "Worlds Apart". I cannot imagine how anyone could sit through such an album.
Loved the first three albums though, felt that "Madonna" was the peak for this band. I sort of wrote Trail of Dead off after "Worlds Apart", reading the reviews for subsequent albums.
Gave "Tao of the Dead" a chance, and it seems pretty rocking on the first listen. Quite a loud album with a lot of energy. There are some good song structures, and that classic Trail of Dead drum pattern is in there... you know what I'm talking about. So I approve for now. Hard to tell how this will stand up to repeat listens though. It's catchy, but is there depth? Tough to say.

Easily my favorite album from this band. It rocks hard without getting annoying and played out, seems to improve with each listen.

such a rocking album. My favorite from them is probably Source Tags though. This might be my second or third favorite

I like the album, but damn it has some awful lyrics. For example, in "Ebb Away" Jason sings "There is
no light in this darkness" (pretty banal), and then follows it up with "She has no face in darkness",
effectively rhyming "darkness" with "darkness" because it wasn't dark enough yet.
My other problem with the album is that it goes for a generic power chord alternative rock / punk
sound too frequently. I got into this band to get away from all that. Still, it's pretty good. The
whole space carnival sound they use on "Let's Experiment" and "Fairlight Pendant" is nice. "Rule by
Being Just" is my favourite song / movement / whatever, though. Wish it was fleshed out a little
more, but it's brevity works too.

Fave t.o.d. album, what!
I do like (some of) their earlier stuff as well, just feel like this one's less of an emotional commitment to listen to, has a smoother sound. A more refined aywkubttod if you will.

This album is criminally underrated. "Strange news from another planet" is such a good ending suite, and their new Tao of the Dead part III is even better! I hope they're putting them together for a 10th anniversary release, this album has been overshadowed by st&c way too much!

Adolf, it's good... Just make sure you also listen to the "Tao of the Dead pt. 3" EP afterwards. Its punk-ish indie rock with a prog attitude.
