Microgenres in general tend to have awful names.
Also, I still maintain that Causers of This sounds extremely different from, say, Neon Indian or Memory Tapes.

"didnt this just leak? goddamn some of you rabbit fuck new albums
and saying that Causers Of This was anything other than cookie cutter chillwave is wrong. Bundick took the formula used by Washed Out and shit out an LP in no time there was nothing to differentiate it from the rest of the genre aside from it being the first LP of any of those artists"
You seem a little bit upset. But yeah, I see where you're coming from; Bundick has definitely said that Washed Out was a huge influence on him. That said, I feel like there's more beat experimentation on Causers Of This than on any other chillwave full-length...
If it feels like such an egregious statement to make, I should probably just consider taking it out of the review, but I seem to be developing a reputation for making questionable comparisons so maybe I'll just leave it in anyways.. bleh.

honestly conrad if you changed the statement from "more in common" to "as much in common" the issue becomes mute.
As the statement, personally, isn't completely off-base, its just the sweeping nature of it that leads to a little jumped-the-gun feeling.
though, again, believing in your opinion and remaining steadfast is nothing to be ashamed of.

Yeah, I know what you mean - it's just that if I were to say "as much in common" it would sort of change the point of
the sentence. I'll just leave it as is; if nothing else, it did spark a little bit of discussion.. which is never a bad thing!
Also, thanks Irving! :D

not upset i just swear a lot
i forgot about Neon Indian, he was actually the first chillwave guy to put out a full-length. the
genre is so small i'm pretty sure there's only four or five full LPs out there. not much room for
differentiation
Neon Indian - Psychic Chasms
Toro Y Moi - Causers Of This
Blackbird Blackbird - Summer Heart
Small Black - New Chain
MillionYoung - Replicants
Universal Studios Florida - Ocean Sunbirds
fuck it

Listened to that Teen Daze album. It's pretty good... a little aggressively bright to me, though.

yeah conrad the LP was supposed to be more dance-party-friendly as opposed to his other EPs. Which are as well worth checking out.
