mostly just the drums honestly. the melodies on songs like Kaputt and Chinatown have a modern feel to me

By far their best, sounding timeless, modern, and '80s at the same time.

I’d say this is clearly inspired by 80s music but I would never mistake it for something produced in the 80s if that makes any sense.

mf really took a cmaj7, an e minor, a cheesy reverby snare and a single 5 note lead melody and made one of the most entrancing and addicting instrumentals I can think of

Every song has been a favorite at one point. Not a bum note to be found

Took me nearly a year, but this is a 5. Labyrinthitis was the gateway drug for me to go back and see what all the fuss was about. Liked it straight away, but didn't realise until recently that it has become an all-time favourite; the feeling as the first notes of Chinatown materialise and the anticipation of what's to come is like no other to be honest. Great album.

album's a grower for sure, but if you at any point in your life listened to the title track and didn't like it you should never be trusted with anything ever again

'I remember Doof used to hate this album.'

you got the wrong man, I came to the site with this sat as my 2nd favourite album

took a year or so to grow on me after its release but definitely didn't hate it, just probably had it dismissed as a 3.5 for a while. It caught me at a weird time about to split from a long term gf and despite introducing me to the album she ended up declaring a strong dislike for it a while after, I remember that.

She did that quite a few times thinking about it ha
