piglet those are some lame criticisms. he actually is delving into some deep themes here that it sounds like you're just writing off out of frustration of not understanding it or being too annoyed by it or something.

album is pure gold. suicide demo is hands down my favourite (probably because i killed bay of pigs)

"Are you seriously trying to rhyme just for the sake of rhyming"

L - O - motherfucking - L

Have you ever listened to bands/artist you claim to like? For example RHCP or Bon Iver? Plenty of artists rhyme for the sake of rhyming? Which is fine by the way. And the lyrics on this are not even half bad most of the time.

"The sax is also really indulgent and annoying and never comes off as refreshing; only a cliche."

Wow. You take that back.

What i mean is when you pair the lines, and try to understand them, like that disgusted with yourselves-books on shelves thing, they just don't make any sense, they don't correlate. They are so transparently abstract and disingenuous, it's really frustrating to listen to. And so I sit here and listen to his timing and his voice and the way he spews out lines in his spoken-word way and can't help but notice how disgustingly plastic he makes the rhyming feel. The problem I'm getting at is a mixture of his timing, voice and lyrics.

Obviously you're immediately taken aback and ready to write me the response of why I'm wrong and that is because the lyrics do make sense and that the way he turns a line is actually good, so I just don't understand the music and am getting carried away. But I do understand what he's trying to say with his lyrics and when it does make sense and a genuine appeal to emotions, which is when the album can be nice, it is still vague and frustrating. I don't hate him or this album, I just think at the roots he's an uninspired artist and this annoys me particularly when it becomes overbearing. A good example is his use of the saxophone,it's just the same motifs repeated at various points of songs that add a pretty veneer to things. It's this thing he falls back on when he doesn't know what else to do.
