Guess that's an overreaction, but to be fair they haven't done anything worthwhile since 2015

i hate to be mean im just not an indie guy. i used to have this at a 1.5 but i felt bad cause i jammed 2 or 3 times. used to hang with a couple indie/punk dudes back in high school and they were always talkin up decemberists, arcade fire, of montreal, animal collective, that whole deal

I mean you’ve got almost all metal and prog in your pie so yeah no shit this doesn’t vibe with you lol. If anything you might get some mileage out of The Hazards of Love but certainly not this one.

Just saw them busting out on tour again. As always, sound was immaculate. Performances were tight and banter was impeccably entertaining

according to Meloy's last studio diary entry, they are done recording their next one:

"The songs are feeling really good. I’ve felt better about this batch of songs than I have in a long time. I know it might be too soon to tell, and I might be too close to the project right now, but I really believe this stands with the best of our work. I feel like the original thesis of the Decemberists is all over this thing; this is a record we were meant to do. Our first proper double LP — clocking in, currently, at seventy three minutes. Feels right."

spamming this comment section but

new single is really good, almost sounds like it could have come from this but with Beach Boys-inspired production :o

Ooooo nice, glad to see them active again, I was starting to think this hiatus would last forever. Is there an album announcement or just the single for now?

A Decemberists double album sounds perfect. I'm sure I'll be heading out to watch them on tour again for the umpteenth time

Snagged my ticket for the tour! I’ve seen them once back in 2015 or so - crazy it’s been so long!
