More feels than it has any right to be. The arrangements are so good

I have come to the recent realisation that as much as I love Ashes and Pale Forklore, they will never touch this masterpiece.

I mean this and Ashes are some of my favorite albums ever but this edges it out slightly
Pale Folklore and Marrow also fucking rule
Serpent is noticeably far more boring than those four

Marrow is a respectable choice for a favorite, some of the band's best moments on there.

Its a sin that they never tried the opera vocals again

PF is incredible too but I feel like the first 5 tracks on Ashes just shade the best on PF a bit.

My only problem with Ashes is the final track, Ashes III.
I mean, I get it in that it works well as an atmospheric outro to the previous 2 tracks, but it's pretty worthless on its own and I skip it every time.

There are several pages in the AGTG thread of people sharing the same sentiment. Some love it, some hate it. It's nice that it's last if you are of the latter opinion, as you can just stop listening after Bloodbirds and it won't hinder the listening experience. I don't love it, but since it's just tacked onto the end it doesn't break the 5

I mean not only is it part of an album that I'd argue is obviously meant to be listened to as a complete package but it is also the 3rd part of a trilogy. It isn't really meant to be looked at or listened to "on its own".
