That UK fest that they're on actually looks fun. May even be in a financial place to go by the time it roles around, who knows. Would be a wild experience for sure.

Carrier of Wounds might as well be the album’s best track.

i could get past the first song the vocals are simply not my cup of tea, which sucks cuz everything else fucking ripped.
do i just suck it up and drudge thru?

^^Keep listening (since you like the music), and let the vocals meet you somewhere in the middle.

Indeed the vox are...unconventional. They definitely grew on me over time, but I didn't find them _totally_ off-putting from the start, either, so maybe there's a chance you'll always hate them. 😥

Vox are demented and I couldn't think of any other style that would fit this album's sound better.
I can definitely see why they would put people off though

I think the singing on this is pretty ghostly/haunting. It’s a vibe.

This is really cool. Lots of interesting stuff happening. I’m not sure the songwriting really connects with me though, but it has a great atmosphere that I keep getting drawn back to. 3.5 for now, but watch this space…

You were my inspiration to check this out so thanks for the unintentional rec! It's really getting under my skin, I'm mildly obsessed with it right now tbh. I'm not sure I really connect with it emotionally but the atmosphere is pretty undeniable. Really great drum and bass work as well.

God bless you. Only a matter of time before that 3.5 becomes a 4.0, innit. If you've made it "past" the vocals (saying that solely because it is a sticking point for a lot of people, understandably so) then you're already well on your way to crowning this as metal's greatest achievement. The path might occasionally be long and arduous but I'm confident you'll eventually see it through.

really really good album. still feel like the first track is head-and-shoulders above all else but i feel like that's mostly due to a lack of familiarity with this

How much indie do I need to check in order to make this my fave metal tect, or am I beyond salvation?

If four of your top seven pie chart genres are already some sub-variant of metal, you've got far too much saturation to see clearly. 4/5 is a great score, though, so I'll allow it.

Hah, don't think this is likely to become my favorite metal album; it's a bit too obtuse/cerebral for that. But it is definitely great. And indeed the vocals bothered me a bit at first but I mostly don't have issues with them now. In fact I like the variety of vocal styles on display here.

Unfortunately I only had 3 metals the other day but black metal has usurped hxc / post-hxc out of nowhere it seems, so I must be beyond redemption. How’s that happened by the way? Odd one. Sput pies are strange beasts.

Okay it’s different every time 😄… what?
Let’s call it 3.5. Death, Prog, Black and / or Sludge (sometimes only one appears and not the other).
