I guess we agree in some sense, me 2019: “ he has without a doubt solved the problems posed by releases in his immediate past, wherein his mastery of guitar glitches and pop pleasures were marred by a straightforward emotionality--dare I call it corniness?”

the best parts of CENDRE maybe summa this guy’s best work. I remember thinking “hotel parallel” was a little better than it seemed like it’d be

the emotional/organic vibe is the entire reason for listening to his stuff

my favourite fennesz memory is still watching him play an encore with two other desktop dudes and it honestly sounded like each was boiling a different kettle

Well, not the entire, but surely you wouldn’t listen to it if you hated that vector. But the “uncanny” effect arises from his means. Maybe. Hello doof. I see geese next month

Meh, I listen to glitch to hear an artist take emotional impetus and see how much refraction it will survive - with a load of this guy's stuff you get the feeling that he's afraid to let go of the source impetus (though some of these songs fare much better). Even tech-oriented stuff like Oval, where the best bits draw half their allure from sounding like lucky accidents, is more attractive than the kitsch bs in track 2 here

Parenthood and some pretty heavy other issues have really kicked me in the nuts in terms of going to gigs, hardly been to any this year, but yeah I'm jealous of that I'd like to see them play - hopefully Brixton Academy one day would be good, I'm not totally sure how popular they are now?

Have fun, live vicariously for me :D

This will be my fourth time seeing them. Of my gaggle of favorite Brooklyn bands to see live—gustaf, moon kissed, palberta, geese, pure adult, godcaster—theirs has to be the most old-school kickass, the least based on postmodern is-it-on-purpose performance tropes. There’s something that tells me to call them the best live band I’ve seen. Will report back, should be epic

Prob just a case I still feel he's more successful at this than you do, also I'm not sure I listen for this in terms of 'glitch' as being a defining thing (like Prefuse 73 or something) - it's more a variety of ambient with his take on glitch a prominent feature.

It feels relevant to mention that the two songs that genuinely “calm me down right this second” involve glitch: dettinger - “intershop 2” (banger album, Johnny PEEP); aix em klemm - “the luxury of dirt”

If you feel that then they probably are, definitely a band I want to see but then also my history is littered with a load of bands I never did catch (Radiohead most obviously I guess).

Hopefully things change up next year for me and I can see a load of stuff.

fwiw was referring to more ambient/glitch (like this/Belong/Nobukazu Takemura) or 'pure' glitch (Oval/Ryoji Ikeda kinda shit) than glitch-hop like Prefuse 73, where the interaction between glitch and stable rhythms is as key as the aesthetic distortion
