Well there are those who are too weakened by the onslaught of "Empire" to proceed, it's unfortunate.

I just don’t think the rest of the album lived up to the standards set by the opener, the post metal bits fell pretty flat for me. And the clean vox are kind of annoying

The addition of post-metal is what makes this ascend above the competition though. It carries an amazing atmosphere and compliments the assault delivered by the metalcore sections. The cleans are so full of passion. Perhaps not the best, but they are raw, stripped of studio enhancement. It is just the emotion, exposed.

If those gorgeous guitars in "A New Aurora" don't ensnare you then I dunno what else could tbh

Ive yet to finish this album (currently on Marasm) but I can certainly say that the cleans on this arent that raw. Raw cleans would be like I Have Dreams or early Poison the Well.

In all honesty I dig this but I can get and sort of agree with Jesters problems with it. I like how for the Post-Rock aspects that they have a bigger focus on more straight Ambient and I like the clean vocals a lot. Remind me of Sam Carter back on Architects first three when he sounded good.

Theres some parts that do bore me (Glance Pt. 1 and 2 for instance) and it can be a bit of a mixed bag but I like. Which is suprising because I expected to hate this.

Glances Pt. 2 has the most consistently average guitarwork of all the album.

Well no because Glance Pt 2 is average by everyone elses standard.

I still fuck hard with Empire, My Hands Will Burn First, Ascending and most of the album tho.
