I'm sorry but how do u listen to a Beach Boys album in full and not come to the conclusion that they, in fact, are sad sometimes

Really great album. Hot take maybe but the opener might be the best song. I just love how dark and foreboding it sounds.

Might be a hot take but I think the Beach Boys are sad a lot of the time on multiple albums. Idk

album is more brittle than outright limp, but that opener really does reek of mildew

I like the opener the most probably

It's Drag Open and Eyesore for me. I agree the production is brittle but it's their style. It took me over half my life to be able to penetrate music with this kind of thin, treble-y quality but it pays dividends. It reads like some eerie lost transmission from another dimension. But anyways, this band gives me those exact tweaked out, explorative, and somewhat dissonant guitar textures that I love, with a killer sense of off-kilter rhythm to boot.
