I don't think it's as good as The Fall of Ideals obviously but this is SOOO much better than Overcome and has quite a few great songs.

One song i liked on this album. Otherwise I find no future hope in a band I once loved. This Darkened Heart was such a sick album, The Fall of Ideals had some gay songs on it, but it was still really good. After that, their Master of Puppets turned into St. Anger.

I personally would recommend it. It has some of their strongest songs. Labonte's vocals are also fucking awesome. Like Overcome it's about 50/50 with singing/screaming but his voice doesn't have all those annoying effects, and in its organic state is actually awesome.

His clean vocals in the second verse of "Keepers of the Fellow" man are orgasmic. Also lyrically I would say there is theme of unification semi woven throughout the album which makes it more interesting imo. Not a concept record per-say but there is something.

This album is just a slightly improved version of Overcome, bringing it just barely above average. There's some good material on here, no doubt, but a portion of the tracks felt like pure-filler and had no lasting effect on me at all... just like Overcome.
Very disappointed by the direction this band has taken with their last two albums. They had such a great, unique metal sound going in "This Darkened Heart".

WasherboardSuds----yes I was thinking of "Overcome" sorry I didnt make that clear. And Im not completely trashing their newest, I just dont like how ATR has gone a bit soft. Im all about some lighter singing inter-twined w/ growls and screaming, but the roots have been ripped out of the ground and its almost too mainstream for me. CrackTheSkull knows where Im coming from. "This Darkened Heart" was just too damn good compared to this junk.
