Excellent review. I think this will end up being number 24 of 25.
Thanks Willie, you must be very happy with 2010 if you put an album you rated a 4 at 25 hahah

I am happy with 2010... also, I've noticed that my ratings don't match my top 25 rankings very well... so much for consistency ;)

Meh it's all personal opinions anyway. I still haven't heard the new Atheist album but I have a feeling I won't like it too much.

It depends on how much you like their older albums (that makes more difference than whether or not you usually like the techy stuff).
Yeah, my ratings are a reflection of how I felt about an album the day I rated the album. My list is how I feel about the albums these days (I've spent the last couple weeks re-listening to all my 2010 albums).

Didn't enjoy older Atheist and that's probably why I don't enjoy their new album. They need to lose they're awful vocalist tbqfh.

That's a damn good way of doing a list since I do the same : ).

Wait a minute. How is this album Black Metal? It's just full of random guitar notes. It doesn't even follow a particular pattern. A couple of songs were just okay.
"It’s almost eerie how well each and every riff works to further the overall atmospheric presence, one that is monolithic in scale and extremely potent. The chaos of complex riffing no sooner gives way to relatively simple and plodding strings of notes before shifting to a set of uniquely bizarre and unsettling melodies. The pace is constantly shifting in multiple directions, never settling on one course of action for too long, but then again never too brief to be labeled as spastic or disjointed." You mean random notes. Anyone can make such an album IMO it's nothing great.
I really liked this band's previous albums. I just don't understand this one. Someone please enlighten me on what I'm hearing wrong.

No, they play a very atonal style of riffs, your ears are just too pussy to handle.

This blows my mind because what we have here (especially in the guitar riffs) is very very close to what they've done in the past.

I would say this is their most accessible material.

I've never heard their older stuff because the band name made me think they would be total cheese, but this one is really cool. I think the slower sections are what makes this album for me.

I don't know individual songs. The album is like one continuous piece for me.
