The production is still a weak point, but it is pretty damn good for an independent release.
Also, it is a slight improvement over His Old Branches in terms of production value.

I'm not seeing anything special in this...I mean, it's got it's moments, but tbh most of the time it just makes me want to listen to Brand New or ACB or something, so I just end up turning it off and putting those on instead.
Oh, and massive congrats on getting Contrib man, you deserve it - your reviews are always top class.

Thanks Deathcar, that means a lot!
And about The Republic of Wolves vs. Brand New, I agree that Brand New is better in most aspects - in my opinion they have better lyrics, are more intense, have a more diverse sound, have more experience/skill at making their songs accessible but still mysterious, and created the sound found on this album first.
But The Republic of Wolves are probably more skilled instrumentally (which I hesitated to come to terms with at first), and this may be just me, but they definitely have a folk vibe going that Brand New showed flashes of but never really achieved - be it by their own choice or by a lack of ability. This album still has a lot to offer that can't be found on TDAG or Daisy.

Fair enough. I'll keep listening to this because this is definitely the kind of thing that I should like, a lot.

Pretty sure Woolen Blankets is one of the best songs I've heard in quite a while. That ending massive part is ridiculous.

Coolio. I knew this was a 4+ for me right away, but I wasn;t sure how the public would react to it since it has so many similarities to Brand New. I'm glad people are able to appreciate what this band did here though.

Yeah, I didn't really feel like there were THAT many similarities to Brand New instrumentally at first, but definitely with the vocals there were many. The farther into the album I got the more I could pick up on some of those similarities to Brand New though.

Listened to Oarsman, it was nice and all but didn't particularly spur me to check out any more

If you ever feel like giving it another go, listen to "Tuez le Tous, Dieu Reconnaitra Les Siens." That's what really got me into the album.

Monologues and Greek Fire are probably my favorite off here.
Amazing that this album is an hour long, flows by effortlessly. Great listen, awesome review.
