This is pretty god damn awesome. Only about halfway through but this is among the best UK hip-hop I've ever heard. He fuckin' destroys it on Faceless People.
Just what 2010 needed, more awesome hip-hop.

This is pretty damn impressive, going to have to take a while to digest it before rating it though. It's a very diverse record to take it.
Also, I may just be being crazy, but does anyone else get a NIN like vibe from Thick Skin?

I remember going apeshit when I heard "Find No Enemy" and some of his freestyles. Then I heard this album and realized he's another talented rapper ruined by atrocious production work.

Far from one of the best albums of the year, I'd go as far as to say mainstream releases like 'Thank Me Later' are better. At least it didn't have god awful beats.

Whaaaat? This record is fantastic.

Like I said, horrid production work that sounds like a fucking clash of loosely organized noise. Wasted lyrics and performances on Akala's part.

I've only heard Find No Enemy and loved it, will definitely check this out.

Production really isn't that bad at all, especially for a grime record. This is more than that though, mixes straight up rock, almost punk-like guitar at times into the mix of dancehall/grime. I'm digging this whole album from start to finish and I usually don't agree with NB's reviews.

I'm not liking the songs with guitars and stuff, I like the straight forward hip hop tracks.
|
| |
no way, I saw the cover and the name and couldn't believe that a rapper would make an album based on the novel 1984 by George Orwell! Definately checking this out right now!

Pretty legit. Akala is awesome and packs a punch with some deep lyrics.
The beats on the album will probably attract people who dig Tech N9ne or even Trent Reznor to a certain extent. Either way.. nice jams.

Going to get this.
Butler you really should listen to Odd Future
|
| |
i'll listen buddy
|
| |
I don't like this so much, but I'm sure it's good in the context of grime or whatever this is. What is it that defines this genre?
|

Oh and Odd Future and all of its subsidiaries kick ass. EARL was released when that kid was 16. Tyler, The Creator - Bastard kicks ass too.
|
| |
i really like this
|

I think it's really just the lyrics that bother me. Or maybe just the way that the lyrics are said.
I'm going to give it another chance. I don't know what I was expecting exactly.

I love his rapid-fire delivery on Faceless People, the drums and guitar used for the beat are awesome as well. I usually really don't like most UK hip hop but I've been listening to this pretty steadily since I first gave it a listen, almost as much as I did Kanye and Cudi's new albums.

UK hip hop is some of the best; the thicker the accent, the better :D
|
| |
Now that I've listened to it, there's some great tracks but the production could be a lot better in some areas. Maybe it's just me but I hear a bit of Eurotrash in there...
