this is definitely the worst CoF album ever. No new ideas, no interesting melodies, no diversity, only pointless speed. Godspeed was awesome, this one is pure dissapointment

lol @ hawks denying he gave godspeed a 4.5 on the first page
Uh I never denied anything? I gave it a 4.5 for a few days when it first came out, then gave it a 4, and now it's a 3.5. So you have no idea what you're talking about.

what are you talking about man

i still say midian is their best.
but that's just me.
i enjoy their newer stuff, but not as much as the old.

The best post-Midian album yet. After listening to this a few times, I'm going to have to disagree with a lot of your points ;) Rather than do a bunch of bullet-points in a post, maybe I'll just review this when things slow down in December.

The best post-Midian album yet.
Wow, that surprises me a lot. Will be patiently waiting for your review sometime around Christmas haha

The riffs are some of the band's best (they've never really been strong in that area), and the intensity level is finally working for them. The orchestral parts are as prominent as ever, but it seems wrong to fault the band for a major part of their sound since the early days. My main problem with the album is it's too long for its lack of diversity.

The riffs are good at some points, but I don't at all think they are some of the band's best, and the orchestra elements are just epic fail, even when compared to their older albums. They're just as prominent, yes, but I don't think they are applied as well here.
Agreed that it's too long.

Yeah, we disagree a little bit. I mean, there have been some great riffs on each of their last four albums, but this one seems to be the most consistent. I don't see the orchestral elements being poorly utilized here, but that's obviously more of an opinion than a fact one way or another.
Their last few albums have all gone on for too damn long (starting with Damnation...)

That's just how they are though. All of their albums have been close to an hour or over an hour long. I agree that it doesn't really help their case on the later albums though. And I could see why Willie would think this is their best since Midian. I would say it's their second best since Midian.

Although a lot of people would disagree, Thornography is my favorite of the post-Midian albums.

Nymphetamine would be my vote. Nemesis may very well be my favorite Cradle Of Filth song.

Although a lot of people would disagree, Thornography is my favorite of the post-Midian albums. Yep, I'd disagree. I'd say that it's their worst ever.
Nymphetamine would be my vote. I love "Nymphetamine (Fix)" and the rest of the album is alright (especially the second half) but I'd have to say that Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder is number 2.
1. Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa
2. Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder
3. Nymphetamine
4. Damnation and a Day
5. Thornography

Thornography is the first full Cradle album that I've ever heard so it's pretty special. Plus songs like I Am the Thorn, Cemetery and Sundown, and Under Huntress Moon are some of the best songs they've made IMO.
