Actually I much-prefer electronica to prog in general... sorry if you misunderstood my points. I felt like I explained in the review how it wasn't necessarily the shift from prog that killed them but that the music used to be much more full, atmospheric, meaningful, etc. and now they feel cheapened, threadbare, etc.

Another excellent album by them. I think this one will end up being my favorite. They really seemed to kick up the intensity and electronics.

First listen makes me think they've lost it, some of it sounded cheap to me. I loved AVO more than the Dark Third, and I found a review of yours that I like Mr. Eric =D

you've got to be kidding me. are "like" and "agree with" the exact same for you, I presume?

Best album they've done so far, and this is really a brilliant band!

I can't get over how "similar" Black Mourning and The Intention Craft sound...
BTW, Intention Craft Acoustic is one of the best tracks this band has to offer and one of the better acoustic remakes I've ever heard.

Well morningview, my second favorite band of all time only plays shows there making me incredibly jealous of people living there.
Hopefully this album grows on me

Spot on with the review. I really enjoyed the first two albums even though they sound as if they are by two different bands. Both albums excellent in their own way. This one is Ok, have listened to it a lot but not moving me like the first two albums and maybe its lack of direction is even diminishing the power of the first two records. I think this band are probably capable of so much more, they just have to decide what they want to be. I imagine a lot of these songs are GREAT acoustically but when all the layers of electronics are added they end up sounding like he Bomfunk Mcs.

a first comment in agreement with SeaAnemone on his review is a great first comment in my book ;)

haven't heard their first 2 albums to compare but I really enjoyed this

You should definitely check out The Dark Third if you enjoyed this album.
I'm sure you'll absolutely love it.

I think some people might have been a little harsh on this album. There are some really good songs on here, such as Black Mourning, Valour, and Patriarch. I just took the album for what it was and thought it was quite enjoyable.

Well it's certainly... different to The Dark Third
Still pretty good though, even if it does feel a little two dimensional

If anyone is curious to see what happened to this band, Jon Courtney's new project (Bullet Height) is probably the closest to PRR you gonna get. It doesn't fill the spot left by this great, great band, but it's decent.

Will check out, thanks Dew
I'm liking this a lot more; the main problem with the album is the lack of dynamic range that the first album had. There's very little room to breathe, the 'quiet' sections in songs still feel aggressive and the vocals are constantly in contention with the guitars or synths, who should be pushed further back into the mix. If this album was produced better, it could've been bloody brilliant

Went back today and gave it a slow attentive spin and I had to bump the rating. The way they took the (very) different sounds of "Amor Vincit Omnia" and "The Dark Third" to create the perfect mix of both is just so good, specially the vocal harmonies, no one does them like these guys use to.

I've got to admit, I listen to AVO and H&A a lot lot lot more than TDT

The Dark Third is unbelievably good JJ, keep it on rotation!
