My evaluation is damn close to yours - I have Animals, WYWH, DSOTM, and then probably Meddle. My fifth - rather surprisingly - is The Division Bell.
The Division Bell is generally underrated, so that's all good.

pas de problème, Irving.

*small + timid voice* But why is The Wall apparently so good?
Because The Trial and The Thin Ice and what Porch said.

Agree with Vanderb0b. WYWH and Animals blow my mind - the latter in particular. I'm also glad Nagrarok hasn't filleted me upside down for asserting The Division Bell is good. I actually like it because it shows some pop sensibility, and is a lot more accessible than many of their other albums were. It was also a ton better than A Momentary Lapse of Reason haha.
"Because opinions."
I guess I'll have to content myself with never truly knowing why The Wall is epic ahahaha.
(Also, how does one indent to make quotations on here?)

I think you'd really have to dig into the concept if you want to understand The Wall fully Irving. That is, if you haven't before. And yes, MLOR kind of sucked. Division Bell is overlooked mostly because it was released far beyond the classic years. It was easily their best since The Wall.

Division Bell is very good, so is The Final Cut, which is generally underrated.

The Final Cut was alright, it was hardly a Pink Floyd album anymore though.

It's definitely different from their other work, but I find it to be just as enjoyable. Title track is in my top 10 Floyd songs.

@ Nagrarok: I'll keep trying until I'm one with The Force =) If anything, I've been lucky enough to secure a seat at The Wall Live tour performance tomorrow - so I'll get Roger Waters himself to convince me! I'll let you know if my opinion changes HAHA!
@ Vanderb0b: Thanks for the tip man. Bye-bye quotation marks!

It's more a Waters solo album than anything else. It doesn't really deserve the name Pink Floyd, to be quite honest.

If I can butt in on the analysis of Final Cut: The Fletcher Memorial Home and Southampton Dock are beautiful - in a very gloomy way. Those are good, as is Two Suns In The Sunset, The Post War Dream, and The Hero's Return. It wasn't very Floyd, true, but that said, some of Gilmour's best guitar work is also on it.

Would I like Pink Floyd and what album should I start with?
|

I think I like this better than the original album tbh
merriweather: take you pick between DSOTM, WYWH, and Animals

Judging by the musical tastes pie chart on your profile, I'm going to hazard a guess at yes. Use the time-honoured tradition of starting with DSOTM, and then maybe move on to Animals and WYWH. From there on it's entirely up to you.
Vanderb0b and Nagrarok might have different suggestions though.

DSOTM is easily the best place to start with Floyd. Then Wish You Were Here and the remainder of their classic era.
|

@Merriweather
Dark Side Of The Moon, The Wall, Wish You Were Here. Any/all of those would be a good place to start. If you like them, then get Animals, which is a bit less accessible, but probably my favorite.

Even better, we are in complete agreement.

Excellent =)
And when you get to The Wall, let me know how that pans out LOL.

Very good work Irving, pos'd. But when did Waters left the band exactly? During or after the tour?
