I think We Are Not Alone is just as heavy, just in a different way. It still has that nu-metal/grungy heaviness their first album had, just catchier and more refined. On the point of variance, I feel that album and this are in the same place.

I agree, its up there. One of those few mainstream rock albums that had really great singles and many should-of-been singles too in the track list.
Many will disagree with me on this, but i put this in with Red- Innocence & Instinct, Linkin Park- Meteora, Disturbed- Indestructible, and Chevelle- Scifi Crimes as mainstream rock golden albums for hit singles potential, certainly in regards to 2000s rock radio anyway.
