I love the atmosphere on this, but the vocals aren't doing much for me... it's definitely worth giving another shot sometime down the road though.

the vocals will take some getting used to if this is one of your first sludge albums

Yeah, they're awesome. Album's awesome, but it's no Tyrant.

Yeah, first experience with sludge apparently. I'm trying more metal lately (really liking Cold Body Radiation right now... though I'm sure that's considered incredibly tame by metal standards) so I'll try some more sludge and maybe make my way back to this.

The whole thing sounded pretty homogenous, too, but I really enjoyed "Burning Black Coals and Dark Memories" for some reason.

Drone and sludge can be a little hard for some folks. Good to see you giving it a go, though.

do you like Neurosis, Sea? if you've never given it a shot, post-metal like Neurosis, Cult of Luna etc might be a better jumping off point for metal.

and yeah, this seriously rules, always go back and forth between this and Summit as to which is better.

sadly, Malfeasance is the only other one I have from these guys... I'll get Tyrant soon.

Seeing these guys in a month, it's gonna be sick.

I've missed this band way too many times. For some reason they always insist on playing in the back of some coffee house or at some gutter-punk infested indie movie theater.

I am a fucking dumbass and am wondering why my downloaded version of Peasant is quieter sounding than Tyrant and Summit and everything else I have by Thou. Is it supposed to be like that?
