I love the atmosphere on this, but the vocals aren't doing much for me... it's definitely worth giving another shot sometime down the road though.

the vocals will take some getting used to if this is one of your first sludge albums

Love the vocals.

Yeah, they're awesome. Album's awesome, but it's no Tyrant.
|
| |
band is consistent

Yeah, first experience with sludge apparently. I'm trying more metal lately (really liking Cold Body Radiation right now... though I'm sure that's considered incredibly tame by metal standards) so I'll try some more sludge and maybe make my way back to this.
The whole thing sounded pretty homogenous, too, but I really enjoyed "Burning Black Coals and Dark Memories" for some reason.

Drone and sludge can be a little hard for some folks. Good to see you giving it a go, though.

do you like Neurosis, Sea? if you've never given it a shot, post-metal like Neurosis, Cult of Luna etc might be a better jumping off point for metal.
and yeah, this seriously rules, always go back and forth between this and Summit as to which is better.
sadly, Malfeasance is the only other one I have from these guys... I'll get Tyrant soon.

Yeah this is my favorite Thou.
|
| |
this is nowhere near as crushing as you make it sound but at least it fucking rules still.
|
| |
vocals on this are so excellent.

Seeing these guys in a month, it's gonna be sick.
Thou really takes some growing to get into.
|
| |
i'd see this band. i bet their vocalist is nuts live.
|
| |
I've missed this band way too many times. For some reason they always insist on playing in the back of some coffee house or at some gutter-punk infested indie movie theater.
|
| |
might have something to do with the fact theyre a diy band???

For some reason they always insist on playing in the back of some coffee house or at some gutter-punk infested indie movie theater. you say that like it's a bad thing.

I also noticed this has different track listing than this:

dunno, track listing here is consistent with the CD

I am a fucking dumbass and am wondering why my downloaded version of Peasant is quieter sounding than Tyrant and Summit and everything else I have by Thou. Is it supposed to be like that?
