As if Deftones albums weren't bad enough...
|

Deftones are actually all right. The only thing is, Chino's singing voice is weak and repetetive. We can scream fairly well sometimes, but he only has one singing voice, which is way too "aaaaahhhh" (breathey).

is this just a brand new album? (i know, i'm stupid) and if so, to which album can i relate it the most.

I think he can sing very good, but it's just what you like or not, it took me a time to get used to his unique voice but now i love it.

No, its just a rarities and B-sides album such as the name implies.
It doesn't really sound like any Deftones album as almost all the songs are covers from 90's bands.

ok, then i'm not buying it.

wikuk, could you start using the edit button, rather than posting twice in a row please? Double posting's against the rules here and on the forums, and you do it rather a lot. Thanks.

You're missing out, dude bro. To say you're not gonna buy it because it doesn't sound like any of their previous albums (which it does, there's definite White Pony elements), is pretty weak. Plus, you're getting a DVD with all of their videos and some backstage/studio shit. Buy it, trust me.This Message Edited On 11.16.05

Really good CD/DVD package.
Not all of the tracks are so great, but the ones that are make it worthwhile. My favourites are Savory, Simple Man, No Ordinary Love, Black Moon, Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want and The Chauffer.
The DVD is great, nice to have the vide clips all in one place and it has some cool bonus bits too.
Been looking forward to their next album for a long while, so it was nice to hear something from them in the meantime.

Great review. Just picked this up the other week. I find it pretty hit and miss with the covers, though The Chauffer is absolutely incredible. The acoustic songs are also quite good.

thier sound depends...there is no song like change or minerva in my eyes...those we're two of the songs that we're real different...
you need to go listen to all the albums...and you'll see how different they we're in the beginning and now...
none of the albums sound alike...if you didn't know the deftones you might not be able to tell it's the same band in each album...but there is enough of them there when you do know them that threads the feeling of the albums together...
i love this band...

Wow, I had to comment on this just to say the acoustic versions are remarkable.
If Only Tonight We Could Sleep is also a highlight, as is Crenshaw Punch.

Out of the covers "savory" and "please please please let me get what i want" are the only ones i like, but they actually left out a verse in "please let me get what i want"(sketchy). black moons pretty much just b real rapping with chino huming over the top, wouldnt even call it a deftones song. pissweak covers but the acoustic stuff is amazing. This Message Edited On 09.10.07
