Definitely Portnoy's departure. I mean, Systematic Chaos is the worst thing they've done, but BC&SL is the best record they put out since Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence. Haven't heard the latest, but the first album with Mangini was just so painfully mediocre. Basically an album full of Octavarium B-sides.

There are quite a few other good songs. The tt is good, but it doesn't make the album imo

Agreed, some really good tracks on SC. But it took some time for me to appreciate the album. When it came out it almost caused me to lose faith in the band.

there's like 1 good track on that album
