the alchemy indexes werent anything to write home about.

Brutally boring and the singer really needs to shut up cause he sucks the cock.

Take away "To Awake and Avenge the Dead" and this is closer to a 3 for me. But that song rules so much.

lol @ people hating on Thrice. didn't realize that had become cool now.

Amazing review for a great album, amen to literally everything you said. For me it was with TAITA, but it was definitely the exact same experience. Congrats on 100

Its a good album but definitely inferior to vheissu, AITA and even beggars imo. The review pretty much exemplifies one of the things I don't like about Thrice though, that being their obnoxious fanboys who heap so much lavish praise on each album that they put radiohead fans to shame (especially on sputnik). Kind of takes away from some of the band's appeal but that's just me.

been thinking I should try out something other than Vheissu, don't know if it should be this or AITA though...

TAITA will be a lot more accessible if you started at Vheissu. This CD gets a bit into raw territory, and the unpolishedness might
be a turnoff if you started at their later stuff.

Edit: also, what RSFM said. do both eventually but I'd start at TAITA

God. This was my favorite album for the longest time. And I first heard it right when me and my friends just got into metal. And at that point, it was customary to hate on everything that wasn't metal, and I got so much shit for loving this album.

I first heard AITA and I loved that shit. then I went back in their discography and found this, and for some reason, it just connected with me in so many ways. It had the raw energy that I was looking for in music at the time; It had the catchy, yet impressive guitar riffs; And the lyrics were just raw emotion. This album makes me feel emotions that NO OTHER album can. and thats why this will always be one of my favorite albums.

@Nikkolae

listening to Thrice makes you want to punch people in the face?

and not sure why people claim the vocals are overly whiny. he was 19, listen to his voice from this album then listen to Beggars. not every album can have corpse-painted pig squealers gargling blood and on-stage horse fucking 24/7

that one song does, atleast for me lol, has alot to do with the fact that when i first listened to that one song and thrice for that matter i was a pretty aggressive little boy

he explained it in the thread already son. his musical tastes have changed over the years and he sees this in a different light than previously. it's a 5 for him in the nostalgic and personal sense
