Albums pretty haphazard though, part of its charm I guess, SW wasn't really taking himself seriously back then

This did start as a joke band so I guess some ideas weren't fully made serious on this.

I Like this recording because it is part of the movement forward for Steve Wilson. This guy is amazing at creating musical landscapes. I am always impressed with what he does. I am listening to his 5.1 mix of King Crimson's catalog. (Especially "In The Wake of Poseidon") and without this CD (music or experiment if you like) it would be just a missing piece of the puzzle called Steve Wilson. I give this one a 4 out of 5.

PT gets really interesting from the 2nd album onwards. Will go through the discog again soon enough, but I may skip this.

This could easily be a 3 if most of the tracks weren't filler.

Agreed.

Personally, I'd give this a much higher score. Technically, this shouldn't even be rated at all, because it's not a serious effort. Additionally, none of you are psychedelic fans. For a real psychedelic nerd, this stuff is absolutely amazing. Of course it's pretentious, but it's supposed to be! I loved every moment of chaos on this, and although i'm not rating it due to Steven Wilson's own disowning of it (it's in the liner notes) and the fact that it's technically not part of the Porcupine Tree discography, I really love this compilation.

Hellooo nostalgia factory

Too bad these guys didn't pack up after this album.
The beginnings of a horrid discography.

People hate on this is unfounded. SW took songs from demo tapes and re arranged them to make an, IMO,
very coherent release in which every song blends into the next in a natural and enjoyable way. Also, he
played all the instruments and re-recorded some songs.
Not their best album in any way, but there's a lot to love here. This was the first thing I heard from
PT and I'm a fan since.
