Magnus, they're so homogeneous though, and their lyrics and music is just so, so bad. Simple music at its worst, even Souljaboy seems more intellectual at points.
3 ratings a true sputniker has:
Jane Doe - 5
Circle Takes the Square - 5
All Nickelback - 1

even Souljaboy seems more intellectual at points. uh oh, don't go that far Gyromania ;). Nickelback at least have some catchy guitarwork (well, I'd agree that it's highly disputable, but I do find some of their stuff very catchy) and lyrics which you can smirk at. Soulja is just like badawadaweeh turn my swag on. Plus, like I already mentioned before, they get extra points for their Flat On The Floor song which was sort of a drinking anthem for like 2-3 weeks for me at some point.

I detect some hints of sentimental value, but for me Chad is just such an awful vocalist and like I've said, he's the linguistic equivalent of the short bus. To each his own though.
ps: the comment about souljaboy was more or less a way for me to emphasize the contempt i feel towards nickleback.

Nickelback really are about as bad as it gets. I don't see how there's anything redeeming about their music, vocals, lyrics...anything. Not even a decent/catchy melody to mark them out as a guilty pleasure

@Gyromania
That's another thing I've always wondered: why do people hate Kroeger's vocals so much? I mean, he isn't great, but imo he has a decent-enough rock voice. Sure, he always sings in the same height and with the same voice, but I wouldn't call him terrible by any means.
But like you said, to each his own. I'm not a bigass fan of Nickelback either, but I definitely stand to listen to them.

I think they hate it for exactly the reasons you just mentioned; his voice never fluctuates at all and, to me, it seems so contrived which detracts from the music. It's also a fault of radio stations forcing every single song they've ever produced onto us to the point of such redundancy that we start to literally hate them.

The radio isn't the primary reasoning for my hatred towards this band, but it was certainly a catalyst.
|

I starting listening to music when these guys first got popular. I owe it to that for the reasoning behind why I still and actually enjoy their early singles.

Band is the worst thing to EVER happen to music. Seriously.

Digging: Korn - Korn III: Remember Who You Are
Oh? What about Korn?
I don't get what peoples deal with Nickleback is, to be honest. I mean, I'll probably never listen to one of thier albums, but there's nothing that horrific about the singles.
But holy hell, people behave like it kills them everytime Nicklebacks name even appears on the computer screen.
come on, WTF if they're that bad just turn the bloody radio/TV off.
But this is nowhere near the worst music ever, not by a comfortable margin
