Cover looks like the hands just popped a huge zit and it has comically exploded.

All of their comeback albums have been 2.5s for me. New one is no different

Fact: She Dreamt She Was a Bulldozer is the best Godspeed track

This whole thing seems a little snobby...cultural shit to show on expositions...i guess i like this when i'm tired of music...requires patience, listener delivery, and no preconceptions i guess

Whenever I hear the monologue on Sleep I can't help but imagine the guy talking as the man on the cover of Staring At the Sea (by The Cure)

This is the fourth-highest rated metal album on Stupnik. In fact, Godspeed has three of the top eight.

It’s ridiculous that drone is classed as metal & it’s completely ludicrous that these guys are considered demigods of their genre & music as a whole, post-rock can be good, very good & it isn’t ‘GY!BE or die’.

I digress, Slow Riot is superb & F#a# is excellent as well.

Nobody considers drone to be metal though. And RikRoach, your comment made me accidentally fall in love with you, damn

"it’s completely ludicrous that these guys are considered demigods of their genre"

out of the enormous amount of post rock bands in the world, GY!BE are definitely an essential band to the genre. Their first two albums are considered by many post rock listeners to be classics, so it is kind of hard to argue that they are not one of the gods within the genre.

Even in their prime I think they went out of their way to be willfully obtuse. Like they write these incredible songs but then surround them in minutes of noise to make them as inaccessible as possible.

Agreed artiswar.

Prancer I was saying some people see them as the only worthwhile post-rock band & nothing can touch them, I find that odd.

Nah, Explosions are nothing special but Sigur Ros > GY!BE

So basically you just don't get drone/ambient? I feel like the ambient sections are important contrast/buildup for the rest

Isn’t it possible to understand the idea conceptually but not enjoy it’s execution in this instance?
