Awaiting all purist black metal fans to start complaining...

The Hellenic Metal Hammer rated this as a 5/10. The editor claims that the songwriting is weak due to the extensive touring of the band.

I trust more though what this site and its members have to say.

I became a fan with assasins so this is good news for me.

Assassins was huge, in terms of both lyrics and music.

I don't think there is really anything eccentric about this album. It's just boring and pretentious. A failed experiment because it just sounds too forced and awkward.

I don't know about Crysis but I'm perfectly happy without the tag. It doesn't really signify anything anyways (might be naive to the special privileges that come with the status though).

I'm apprehensive in regards to checking this out, buy if Karl rated it so high...

I am actually surprised to see more Assassins supporters out there because I thought I was the only one. I can't wait to listen to this, I like a band that isn't afraid to step out of the boundaries and blend styles. Plus, the psychedelia aspect always tickles my starfish. Nice review, Wizard.

I was only kidding, I just remember Coke writing such a neg review for Assassins and I truly think it made a lot of haters on this site, you know how Staff reviews role (not that there was a problem with it, everyone is entitled to their own opinion). I just needed to even the playing field.

Instinct:Decay is the only thing I really like from this band, but I may give this album a shot. Ace review as usual Karl.

How many more pure black metal albums does a man have in him before he wants to walk away for a bit? Even the main guy from Beherit went all darkwave for A LONG TIME. The change makes all the sense in the world.

Dont base your critique upon your expectations of what you think the artist should have done, but what they actually did.

I think its great if someone doesnt like this album because they hate darkwave anyways, but not because they wanted black metal instead. That's just silliness.

Nachtmystium has plenty of black metal material to go through. I think B. Judd wants to make music that gets burrowed into peoples heads now. Not a bad pursuit if it doesnt suck, and Im hearing a severe lack of falsity and an abundance of reverence for music that meant something to someone deeply. That is the difference between class and something that sounds like unwashed ass (in a bad way) and prefabricated market research pap.

Try just the ears, and not the prejudices.

I think alot more people like this than you lead on. However, this is certainly respectable and should pertain to a number of bands trying to push the envelope instead of doing the bare minimum.

This. It ain't bad at all. Black'n'Roll is always fun to listen to. It isn't the greatest thing I've ever heard, but I like the combination of rock riffing and beats with black metal harshness. It's weird an eccentric, maybe even pretentious, but it still ain't bad.
