Game is incredibly underrated.
Good review although I wish for the part about the "Classical Influence" you mentioned the influence of the Classical piece "Las Folias/ Les Folies D'Espagne" (depending on whether the variations were by a Spanish or French composer). There are quite a few songs based on that.

The first Final Fantasy is certainly monumental in its influence and is an excellent game, but I wouldn't call it one of the best FF titles. I'll certainly give you VI, though.

1st Final Fantasy is legendary. Make your own party/classes. 8 bit awesomeness. It was a challenging game. It's a hack and slasher. No bullshitting. You can't touch this game, man. This is for meat eaters.
Final Fantasy 4 brought the 16 bit love. This is the best Final Fantasy. Almost as challenging as the first, but with an epic story and cool characters.
Final Fantasy 6 is almost as good as 4, however, I found it had more replay value than 4 with the espers and plethora of characters. My favorite soundtrack.
I stopped caring after that.
