This album is underrated. It's certainly not all garbage. Learning to Fly is brilliant.

This is still a good album although Roger was gone. It's the least listened to Pink Floyd cd I own, but you gotta admit, On the Turning Away is an amazing song.

I don't like anything off of this except Learning to Fly and Dogs of War.

The reviewer talks about the degree of mimicry/forgery that Gilmour engaged in on this album. There's a bunch of things that I noticed recently, which I didn't hear the first few dozen times through. The tempo and rhythm of 'Learning to Fly' is the same as 'Money'. And, the cash register sample in the latter fits into the former almost seamlessly. Several other examples of recycled bits from the past pervade this album. 'Dogs of War' is very similar to 'Welcome to the Machine', etc.

3 from me, probably. Worst Floyd, easily, but still not too bad. Division Bell was a nice improvement on this, but after Waters left, Gilmour was a bit clueless. He's talented, for sure, but he spent too much time trying to continue the Waters era that he forgot about what the Waters era was- A big step in a different direction after Syd left. Good review, I don't completely agree, but well done.

I never thought that Pink Floyd could make such a bad album...

Better than Division Bell. "Learning to Fly" and "On The Turning Away" are excellent tracks (two of my favorite Floyd tracks in general. "Yet Another Movie" is a horribly blatant attempt to ride on Roger Waters' success, "Sorrow" is a poem that never should have been set to music. This is average at the very worst.

I thought this album was great, very underated. Although i am a little disapointed they hired in song writers.
learning to fly, the dogs of war, on the turning away, yet another movie, terminal frost and sorrow were great

This album really feels empty to me. Its odd.

Its not very good besides Learning to Fly, Sorrow, and On the Turning Away. And the album really pales in comparision to the records in their prime.

I know I've gone through them all. Division Bell is actually a nice way to end it. Its sufficiently solid.

Why the hate towards this album?

It just feels wrong wizard. There is something about it. I'd have to agree with the reviewer (even if he is a tad over hyping the 'bad', it still feels recycled).

I guess it's a nostalgic thing with this album. I grew up on this with the rest of the Pink Floyd discography. Has alot of filler, I can agree with that, but the great songs are just that.

Yea, but I hate filler. There are like 2 or 3 tracks on here that are worthy of some mentioning, but the rest are just boring to say the least. Which is something I hadn't really felt with Pink Floyd since their debut (entirely different style at that time, but up to this point they were already deeply ingrained with their style).

First couple of albums I can't get into either (too much tinkering around).

uhh. HORRIBLE! So bad the title of the album doesn't even belong in the same sentence as the words barrel, and bottom.
