Guess mine wasn't that controversial, that's good to hear. Whale song still jams

"My Controversial Modest Mouse Opinionᵀᴹ is that No One's First EP > Anything MM did since this"

I can't even be controversial anymore. Without that power, I'm basically nothing.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that though

Yeah, I don't even know how that's controversial really.

Good News is overrated. We Were Dead... is fine. Strangers to Ourselves is mostly pretty good. No One's First is when they actually stumbled back onto the remnants of what made them indie juggernaughts in the first place.

I mean my controversial opinion is this band has yet to make a studio album below a 4, but in the sea of incredibly foury fours this band’s discography has been since 2004, Good News is the Fouriest four out of all of them.

Good News manages to be so fun while retaining most of their signature quality. We Were Dead is slowly warming up to me too though I still don't like it near as much.

Good News is their last great album. We Were Dead is pretty good. Strangers is just OK.

Strangers is super forgettable and meh for me except for The Ground Walks which I really love.

eh, No One's First has some of their absolute peaks post-M&A and also some truly awful shit... like pretty much every album post-M&A lol. I'll still take We Were Dead any day but all 3 are a mix of trash and treasure

I can only think of 1 or 2 "bad" songs on No One's First, but We Were Dead is straight embarrassing for half it's runtime

I mean you've got King Rat and Perpetual Motion Machine which are among the greatest 'nice idea but please do not ever do this again' moments in their catalog. the only poor tracks on WWD are Education and Fire It Up and I'd still take them over shit like the former or, I dunno, Dance Hall any day

I'll see no hate against Dance Hall. Hilarious tune that is.

@Rowan5215

Stuff like Steam Engenius and We've Got Everything over King Rat?

...both of those are bangers though, Everything has absolutely killer backing vocals and Steam Engenius is hilarious, Marr also slays it on both songs

Dance Hall is the worst Modest Mouse song and we all know it deep inside
