No this is definitely insane. I'm just saying that AFX did insanity long ago.

this certainly isnt crazier nor faster than most aphex twin
i mean aphex has such a huge range that it's hard to say but if we're talking stuff like 'come to daddy' then nahhhhhhh
drukqs iirc also is definitely not the best way to start

But this sounds so organic it's almost not even fair. Endtroducing has that very organic feel too, but this is spacey as all hell at the same time. I'm convinced this is the best thing ever, but I'm willing to be persuaded.

Drukqs and the two ambient works are without a doubt my favorite AFX records.
Drukqs has a really technical craziness sound to it that comes close to crossing any sense of musical appreciation for it, but within all the madness has some sort of chilling beauty(exemplified by the piano pieces).
But back to Flying Lotus, this record almost flows like some alien dj mix.

We've eaten two servings of cannabis-infused goldfish crackers. And we've been talking about the future.
I love that.
This album almost sounds like a time-clash with the mixture of the futuristic synthesizers and clatters of noise, but with traditional instruments such as sax and harp mixed in. And the way it flows is comparable to an electronic record a la Aphex Twin.

@ potato
I have only 7 5's; this is one of them. And this is easily the fastest I've ever given one out. Fastest by months.
|
| |
Or a 3.5
but you like all this bad electro shit and then this only gets a 3.5
|
| |
I just don't rate it as high as his others

I basically agree with your system, tater. I just couldn't in good conscience give this anything but a 5.
|

What Satellite said. And yeah, 5's are reserved for "transcendental" perfect albums, ones that are not only flawless but also have some kind of personal connection with me. I haven't heard this enough to have a really close connection to it, but it meets my first requirement so well I couldn't not 5 it.
It's not necessarily a "classic" yet, but it's too god damn perfect to not get a 5.
