black metal of this breed usually has "atmospheric" production. and it's still pretty clear compared to PFA

The only Mayem album I've been listening to was Wolf's Lair Abyss. Does this sound anything similar to it?

Brenoritvrezorkre makes this look like Chopin, but for me the production still murdered it.

I'd say it's a good deal more avant garde than Wolf's Lair Abyss. Plus Attila's vocals beat Maniac's into the ground.

And have you guys been listening to this on YouTube or something? The production is much cleaner than Deathcrush or DMDS.

umm just because something has 'clear' production, it doesn't make the production good

Obviously, but the production here adds to the overall atmosphere of the album. It's hard to view it as a deterrent in this case for me.

Death Magnetic would be a good reference point. That had god-awful production.

Umm the production is good for black metal but I'd hardly say it's clean. Everything's a lot heavier and clearer than their 80s and early 90s stuff but it suits the album well and also it's not 1987 anymore. I just don't see what the problem is with the production. Nobody explains their reasoning. I wanna know why this just kills everyone's ears because I don't hear the grating noises that everyone else is.

cool story but I was replying to this:

that implies that the prdocution is good because its clean.

I haven't listened to this so idk what the production is like, I just hate it when people do that

To me it sounds like the production deliberately muffles things to make it sound more lo-fi, it sounds contrived.

On reflection it is probably not half as bad as I remember though, I know the musical elements had potential. I'll give this another listen and reassess as it has been a while.

Wolf's Lair Abyss is more similar to Grand Declaration than this. In fact the riff that fades out at the end of Wolf's... is the same one that fades in to start Grand Declaration. I liked the riff style of those two albums.
