This creepy brodude I know namedrops this band at me all the time. The combination of that and the As I Lay Dying influence makes me want to avoid this at all costs.

A big step backwards in my opinion. They sound (even more) like an AILD clone now.

Can't see ANY comparisons to AILD. . . vocals are completely different, guitars are different, drummers are in opposite leagues. . clean vocals maybe but still

They're both metalcore with religious themes. I like both bands though, perhaps AILD a bit more.

I actually though this was a bit disappointing. I feel that clean singing in some parts worked well e.g. "Collapse" but on "Failure" it did not work well for me. Also not quit sure how I feel about the guest vocals by sonny on "eternal".

Interesting to say that August Burns Red doesn't have the "it" that makes it stick when I think Constellations was easily a better album then anything WoA has put out. Messengers was also very very good. ABR certainly isn't the best band, isn't even the best metalcore band by any stretch of the imagination but are certainly better than WoA. Like you say the drumming is pretty meh and ABR has arguably one of the best drummers out there. But i guess its all opinion and that's just mine.

Em, you should check out their whole discog; they are very consistent.

Popabubb: Well I was talking about that "it" for me personally. Even though I love Consellations, I can't sit through the whole album in one sitting, whereas with this new WOA one I could. but yeah, to each their own.

Em: Check out Pride of the Wicked, then move on to Arise and Conquer, and finally their debut.

i am impressed with what i have heard on this; the main reason I have discarded WoA in the past is because ov their vocalist, whose screaming is very average...on this record, his vocals have made a HUGE jump mainly because ov his clean singing, which before was pretty much just shouts over the music. I think it's amazing how they always find a way to improve with every record they release. Not many bands can do that.
