rock band of the decade? i just can't think of many others...

Album Rating: 5.0
The National is #1. Then Steven Wilson and his band is #2, then Radiohead, Tame Impala, Foals, QotSA, Kayo Dot, and The War on Drugs in no particular order.

They're up there, along with Hop Along, mewithoutYou and I guess BUCK-TICK as an honourable mention for consistency. SW definitely in the game, not sure QotSA qualify based off one knockout album and a so-so follow-up

Yeah maybe not QotSA or Radiohead, since they both only made two albums in the decade. The King of Limbs:LftB and Like Clockwork are just in my top 10 favorites of the decade. This is #1 of course.

The National is number 1 no doubt. Number 1 for the 21st century actually

Rock band of the ‘10s....and the 21st century...and all time.
The War On Drugs are 2nd best OTD behind Natty for me. Hop Along is def a good shout too.

21st century Radiohead still have a shout...Kid A, In Rainbows, Moon Shaped Pool
Some people even like Amnesiac, HTTT and King of Limbs
Lambchop would probably take the crown for 21st century for me...Nixon, Is A Woman, Damaged, Oh (Ohio), Mr M, Flotus...I mean that's pretty impeccable right there, most recent one was decent too

That's another story; the 2000s is one of the best decades for music imo. Best rock bands of this century for me are Tool, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, No-Man, Oceansize, maudlin of the Well/Kayo Dot, Alcest, Agalloch, Isis, Anathema, QotSA, Foals, The National of course, Sigur Ros... so many. Radiohead, Ulver, and Nick Cave too if they count as rock.

Sigur Ros and Anathema are good shouts. Destroyer is a top 10 contender.

anathema's best days were before this century though
honestly i don't think there is any band that can rival the national as the kings of this century so far, except for off minor but they went out pretty quickly

Oceansize and Boris spring to mind, haven't seen either of them mentioned

'anathema's best days were before this century though'
nah, although Judgement falling in 2000 rather than 1999 would make their claim even more obvious
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0
I mean they started touring their best album in 2000...
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.2
Anathema haven't really had a 'best days' patch imo, but Eternity and Judgement being trapped in the '90s keeps them from being a fully fledged 21st century vehicle
