RATATAT remixes >(WAY BETTER)>This Garbage

yeah.... not to troll, but this is not that great. The originals are best left separate. The xx is too repetitive in structure to support rap in general. And since when were the super-slow riffs and reverb of the xx enough to garner a BIGGIE SMALLS collab? Unqualified, unworthy, unwaranted. Go get RATATAT remixes for an example of how it's done.
Because rap production is NEVER repetitive!
Honestly if you don't see how the music works with his rapping, then you probably aren't very educated when it comes to musical theory or even general hip-hop music. Biggie had another side besides his hard-hitting, aggressive side.

Enotron - I agree that hip hop production leans towards a more condensed structure. 4 bars of melody looped, 8 bars (measures)... oh shit I'm not going to take the time to type out how quantized beats can make tempo increase or decrease and differentiate between verses, choruses, and bridges... Wu-Tang has the same two measures of bass-line in some of their greatest hits, over and over. My beef with this mash (potato) is that The xx sounds like they write riffs while in a tranquilizer induced stupor. Unless I am mistaken, they seem to all be in 4/4 time with some thin, noodley, single-string riffs slathered in reverb. Your boy can't play more than one string at a time. It's like Franz Ferdinand had a step-brother who wears dresses and hosts opium tea parties for imbeciles. The xx. < Biggie Smalls. PS. I Know (What You Did Last Summer) Some Theory, boss man. Did you realize that you only need one finger on your left hand to play the xx? xoxo

Your review was written well, by the way... but would you rather eat a picture of a steak (This Album), or eat a steak (Ratatat Remixes)?

You are an odd little man.
Regardless of whatever the fuck you are trying to say, I think the riffs work really well with his rapping. The ratatat remixes are a bit better, but the XX just bring another side to his music. A more dreamy, soundtrackish sound. What's unfortunate is that the riffs generate the same atmosphere throughout the album. No variety.

A Juicy Intro (Ha! Yes Mash-Up) is well better than Juicy-R! I prefer it with the xx's Intro than VCR

I think Dead Wrong Intro is the best, but it's mostly due to how fucking good the music is.

Hate to be a bitch, but can whoever negged this explain themselves. I really put a lot of time in this review and I'd really like to see if the problem you have with it actually concerns the review or if you're trolling.
