Hell, I respect your opinion Zebra, it's nice to see that someone can defend their position. :>

I have to say though, that I'm not the biggest "Oh Comely" fan. It tends to drag. This Message Edited On 09.11.06

Yeah but i really really like the part when the horns come in towards the end. Other than that I think it's much too long.

Right. Well, after numerous listens, a 3 is sufficient. Mr. Mangum's voice can be quite annoying at times, particularly when he sort of wails in certian tunes such as Oh Comely and King of Carrot Flowers part two.

Still got some great tunes, though.

I've had this for two months, and I finally listened to it last night. Not bad, but I'm willing to bet this album will grow on me

This is ever so slowly becoming my favorite album of all time. Everything about it is perfect.

Yep. It's now #1. Nothing even comes close. It's flaws make it perfect through character. It's lyrics are awe-inspiringly surreal and yet they manage to hold a grasp of reality at the same time. The guitar sounds like a typewriter clacking away. The horns sound like the chant of all the ages. The vocals, though messy, have so much to tell that they can't possibly be understood by anyone. I am in love with Jeff Mangum for being in love with Anne Frank.

I don't see anyting funny about this band's name. Peculiar, it is, but not humorous. Or am I missing something?

No it's just peculiar.

Yep.
It is quite peculiar, but its one of those names that doesn't really hint towards the style of music it is, which I think is cool.
And yeah, I love this album. Two Headed Boy Part II is perfect and just 100% does it for me. And Jeff's voice does indeed take some getting used to, but I've come to love it.
It's interesting reading all these opinions though...

King Of Carrot Flowers has some incredible lyrics. Simple, yet very powerful.

His best lyrics aren't on this album. Avery Island has alot more powerful emotion hidden in the wordings. Naomi and Song Against Sex beat out most of the lyrics on this album entirely.

I adore this album, beautiful and compelling stuff, definitely a 4, possibly 4.5!
