"agreed. definetly worth those 4$ i spent a few months back. Jammed it thrice this weekend. sup Jamie"
Nice. Not much, same old, you?
"Both Rover and One Brown Mouse are the weakest here to me, but they're still good songs."
Agree with One Brown Mouse being the weakest (it's still a great song though) but Rover is far from the weakest for me.
No Lullaby is the song that sounds the most out of place on here but it's too good to be the weakest, just the least fitting in the context of the album.

No Lullaby is (after Moths) probably the song I enjoy the most on here. Maybe it's all the rest that doesn't fit the album.

It's a classic Tull song, don't get me wrong, it's just that this is essentially a folk album and No Lullaby isn't a folk song and sticks out even more due to being quite 'heavy'.

And I like how Journeyman flirts with eclectic prog. Song reminds me some good Gentle Giant.

Never really got a prog vibe from Journeyman. It's bluesy but not very prog to my ears.

Rover is still without a doubt my favourite song on here.
It reminds me of Cup of Wonder but I find Rover more satisfying to listen to.

@Jamie; Take note that blues can flirt with prog. And it's not the first time I hear Gentle Giant through the heydays of Jethro Tull, and most of the time it's when they inject Baroque into their music, like songs ''Songs from the Wood'', ''Minstrel in the Gallery'' and ''Velvet Green'' for instance. And Journeyman of course, but many other ones that don't come to mind for now.

Yeah I know the paths of blues and prog can cross from time to time, it goes without saying as there's a blues influence in pretty much all rock-related music with prog being no exception, but I don't hear any particular prog influences in Journeyman which actually follows a rather basic blues structure. For me, having the odd stylistic similarities to a progressive band, i.e Gentle Giant, doesn't necessarily make it prog in itself.
Also Gentle Giant's baroque influences are also closely linked with the folk influences in Tull which is where I feel the similarities stem from in the other songs you mentioned, although of course those songs do also have touches of prog, well the former two at least.

@Jamie, I agree with what you said above.
After all, what makes me love Journeyman that much is the Gentle Giant flavour it gets even if song is not exactly prog.
